This Privacy Policy describes how Zero Backlog LLC ("0b", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website at 0backlog.com and our applications (collectively, the "Services"). By using our Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
Our Services are designed with a local-first, privacy-by-default approach. We minimize data collection and do not retain your operational data unless you explicitly opt in to cloud features.
How the Services Work
Our Services can be used under different modes, each with distinct privacy implications:
- Unauthenticated Users (No Account) — You may use a limited set of features without creating an account or logging in. In this mode, we collect only minimal, anonymous usage data (such as aggregate analytics) and do not associate any information with a personal identity. No personal data is stored on our servers.
- Authenticated Users (With Account) — Creating an account enables access to the full set of features. We collect Account Information as described below. Even with an account, we operate on a privacy-first basis: your data stays on your device unless you enable cloud storage.
- Bring Your Own Keys (BYOK) — Certain features allow you to configure your own third-party API keys (e.g., for AI model providers). When you use BYOK:
- Your API keys are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
- Any data you send to third-party providers through your own keys is governed by your relationship with those providers and their respective privacy policies. We act solely as a conduit and do not access, log, or retain the content of those requests.
- You are solely responsible for reviewing and accepting the privacy practices of the third-party providers you choose to use.
- Local Models — When you run AI models locally on your device, no data leaves your device. We have no access to, and do not collect, any inputs, outputs, or model data processed locally. This mode provides the highest level of privacy.
Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you use the Services:
- Account Information — Name, email address, and credentials you provide when creating an account. Not collected from unauthenticated users.
- Usage Data — Information about how you interact with the Services, including IP address, browser type, device information, operating system, pages visited, and timestamps. For unauthenticated users, this data is collected in aggregate and anonymized form only.
- Payment Information — Billing details processed by our third-party payment processors. We do not store your full payment card information on our servers.
- Communications — Any information you provide when contacting us for support or feedback.
- Cookies & Similar Technologies — We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate and improve the Services. By using the Services, you consent to our use of cookies.
- User Content (Cloud Opt-In Only) — Documents, files, and other content you create or upload are stored locally on your device by default. We only store your content on our servers if you explicitly enable cloud storage or synchronization features. See "Data Storage and Retention" below.
